Tessa Campbell, Senior Curator gives a brief history of a wool blanket that was donated to the Hibulb Cultural Center by Wayne Williams in 2012. His grandfather, William Shelton, originally owned the blanket.
She then introduces Dr. Elaine Humphrey, from the University of Victoria, Advanced Microscopy Facility, who describes the extensive testing methods used on samples of the blanket.
These tests concluded the blanket does indeed contain both mountain goat, and dog hair from the now extinct wooly dog breed, that was once prized in Coast Salish communities.
